Q: How long have you worked at Hyosung? What was your start date?
A:I have worked at Hyosung for over 4 years. I started in September of 2018
Q: Can you tell us a little more about your background and how you joined the company?
A: I graduated with a degree in economics in 2016, and actually started my first job doing inside sales. I quickly realized that my selling skills were sub-par. My next job was actually as a front desk rep at a family care center. From there, I moved to their corporate office as my first introduction to AP. But most of the learning and self-development in AP came after my move to NHA.
Q: What was your first impression of Hyosung?
A: I noticed very quickly how hard people worked, while also being able to get along with others like friends. Just a good balance of productivity and laughter. At my previous company, I was 1 of maybe 5 people in a large office space. It definitely a fresh environment change that I needed and it also did motivate me to be a part of this group.
Q: Are there any important skills or attributes that are important for someone that wants to pursue a career in accounting/accounts payable? Is there anything about your job or your team that you think people outside would find surprising or different in the way you/it works?
A: While some might think that people who work in accounting are quiet and recluse, there are many cases specifically in accounts payable, we are frequently communicating internally and reaching out to new people on a regular basis. We enjoy communicating and building good rapport with vendors because this makes our work more efficient AND more enjoyable.
Q: Can you tell us about your role and summarize your day-to-day responsibilities?
A: In accounts payable, we are responsible for processing NHA’s expenses and costs. We are the main points of contact for any invoicing and payment related work. So if you were to purchase a good or service for NHA, then we would be the ones handling the bills and payments.
Q: What inspires you every day?
A: An effort to be the best version of myself is what motivates me every day. If I truly am able to be the best version of myself, then I know I can positively affect the people I work with and surround myself with. People are social beings and how we rub off on one another can be very important. This all starts with how you carry yourself.
Q: In 5 years what do you want to achieve or where do you see you yourself?
A: In 5 years I would like to have started my own family and live in a cozy home.
Q: What do you like to do outside of work?
A: I love golf. I love many sports, but golf is my all-time go to.
Q: Do you have a favorite memory or standout accomplishment during your time at Hyosung?
A: My favorite memory at Hyosung was when accounting won team of the year in 2021. It was a hectic year with many challenges, but we all persevered and it was a great way to end the year. Many thanks to the accounting team for all of their support!
