Q: How long have you worked at Hyosung? What was your start date?
A: I started out as temp position on August 2018 and transitioned to permanent on June 2019
Q: Can you tell us a little more about your background and how you joined the company in 2018?
A: I worked at company called Maevn where they distribute scrubs for doctors and nurses. That’s where I first started learning a lot about supply chain management along with ERP systems and Office Excel, such as V Lookup, Pivot Table, and etc. Then, I found an open position for a Supply Chain Analyst at a staffing agency. At that time, I didn’t know I would be working for Hyosung, but when I went through the hiring process including interviews, I learned that the job is for Hyosung. I heard a lot about Hyosung from my parents, such as it being a large company where many outstanding jobs happen, so this was where I wanted to join the company.
Q: What was your first impression of Hyosung?
A: I was really surprised with how huge the warehouse is and excited about working at Hyosung where many ATM machines are sold to well-known major customers such as Bank of America and Chase.
Q: Are there any important skills or attributes that are important for someone that wants to pursue a career as a Supply Chain Manager? Is there anything about your job or your team that you think people outside would find surprising or different in the way you/it works?
A: I think the most important thing is to be interpersonal. Since this position requires a lot of communication with different teams such as Operations, HQ, Part Sales, Customer Care, Accounting, etc., there are many times that I have to face different issues in different areas. And since I can’t try to solve these issues on my own because I’m not a superhero, I need to communicate a lot with my colleagues in Hyosung to collect possible solutions.
Q: Can you tell us about your role and summarize your day-to-day responsibilities?
A: My ordinary day runs with inventory management, RMA/sales part order fulfillment, part forecast for sales and reconfiguration, and PO creation/adjustment, etc. Also, different BOM analysis and communications are required to look up stock availability for Production.
Q: What inspires you every day?
A: Encouragements and compliments. I like working with people who like to give complimentary comments and tensed up.
Q: In 5 years what do you want to achieve or where do you see you yourself? This can be a personal goal or a career goal.
A: I like to have my family with wife and kids. I’m planning to have 2 kids and I always dream to go outside to play sports with them.
Q: What do you like to do outside of work?
A: I like to watch movies. My favorite movie is Avengers. I really like those Avengers characters and my favorite is Thor. It gave me goosebumps when he hit the ground with Stormbreaker and shouted “Bring me Thanos!”
Q: Do you have favorite memory or standout accomplishment you want to talk about? moment during your employment at Hyosung? With your team, customer, or event, etc…
A: Annually on the first week of January, we have to perform physical cycle count. This is one time of the year when Operations shuts down and all warehouse associates with office employees works so hard from 7 am until 6 pm traveling across the warehouse and have to be part of counting parts in the warehouse. Also, I happen to know many names working in the warehouse that I didn’t know since I have to look at count sheets with their names on it prior to data input for counts.
